Travelling by Bus Around Rarotonga
Buses offer a low-cost way to travel to town or to see the sights around Rarotonga. The Island Bus will pick you up or drop you off anywhere on request.
Timetable
Monday to Friday Buses depart town from Cook's Corner Depot, Avarua, (main township on Rarotonga) on the hour travelling clockwise around the island from 7am to 4pm. Buses depart at 25 minutes past the hour travelling anti clockwise around the island from 8.25am to 4.30pm.
Night Time Night time buses depart Cook’s Corner from 6pm to 11pm on the hour Monday to Thursday and Saturday night.
Friday Nights On Friday nights the bus departs from town (travelling clockwise only) from 6pm to 10pm and 12am to 2am on the hour. There are no anti clockwise night buses.
Sunday Travel Sunday bus departs town, travelling clockwise, from 8am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm on the hour. There are no night buses on Sunday.
Travelling from the Villas
The buses will pick guests up outside Sea Change Villas on the hour for the anticlockwise route and on the half hour on the clockwise route.
Stand on the correct side of the road and indicate with a wave to the driver of the bus that you require him to stop to pick you up.
The cost of a return trip from Sea Change Villas into Avarua, main township, is $6.00 each. You can purchase a one way fare of $4.00 per person or if you intend to use the bus as your main form of transport while visiting Rarotonga, you can able to purchase a 10 trip ticket. These are available from the bus driver.
